Where It Began
The Blacksmith starts with a single narrative, the story of our founder, Andy Smith.
In a working-class town, Andy was raised around builders, welders, and craftsmen. He was inspired by ‘can-do’ personalities and execution. That mindset is what brought him here.
After earning a degree in engineering and spending years in a stable career, Andy realized he wanted more. In 2007, he took a leap and started his first company. There were no investors or luxurious offices, just hard work and one goal to solve real world problems.

That small operation grew into an eight-figure clean energy company and was later bought by a private equity group. After that, Andy went on to build and grow several more businesses in energy, manufacturing, logistics, and tech. Each one taught him something new about people, leadership, and growth.
Through it all, one thing stood out. Most owners hit the same wall. Their business depends too much on them. Systems are outdated. Teams rely on one person to make everything work. Andy saw it in his own journey and in the businesses he helped build.
